21 UP CHAMPION

On Sunday, the semi-finals and the final of the 21UP Club Championship was played in cool but sunny weather. In one semi-final Peter Merkel defeated G.Webster  22/3 with Peter playing off a handicap of -8 and G.Webster playing off a handicap of -2.  In the other semi-final, Chris Randell defeated Bob Bunting in a three and a half hour match 21/18.  Chris played off a handicap of -10 and Bob played off a handicap of -8.  Consequently, Chris played Peter in the final which lasted for three hours and forty ends.  Chris started well and had overcome his handicap after seven ends while Peter took twelve ends to overcome his handicap.  Chris continued to apply the pressure and went on to lead 14/4 after twenty ends.  Although Peter fought back strongly to make the score 16/13 in Chris’ favour after twenty six ends, Chris went on to win the championship 23/15.
